The concept of karmic agency

I have always been fascinated by the idea of karma. How it works. I believe we are all connected – in a somewhat literal manner having to do w/ quantum mechanics. I think that’s part of how karma works. Even if I don’t completely understand the science of how it all works, I certainly have always subscribed to karma in a very big way. And I’ve always found it to be true in my life. It’s not always instant. In fact, I think it rarely is. But I do think what goes around comes around. Even most major religions embrace karma in some way or another. Think of the golden rule in Christianity about doing unto others, etc.

One of my favorite quotes is, “Your karma will guide you gracefully and protect you or sabotage you, depending upon how you live your life and how you treat other people.” I LOVE that quote. And I’ve certainly felt that to be true in my life. There are times in my life that I’ve felt protected and guided gracefully and also times I’ve felt sabotaged. I think it’s been what I’ve deserved though each time (good or bad)…

To me the concept of karmic agency has to do with when people become karmic agents to assist in bringing someone else’s karma full circle. So, if you do something good for someone and they deserve it you are a good karmic agent. If you do something bad to someone and they happen to deserve it, even if from something completely unrelated to you, you are still a karmic agent – helping to bring that person the karma that they deserve… Certainly an interesting topic and one that I really enjoy contemplating!
